D. X. Logan was born in July of 1979 in Trenton, Ohio but spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Ohio. He always displayed an overriding interest in all things creative and the outdoors. By the end of the second grade, he'd finished the novel Golem in the Gears by Piers Anthony. This love of stories and reading originated from his father. By his teens, his love of the written word had already developed into a passion that would last the rest of his life. He consumed fiction especially fast. The works of such authors as Issac Asimov, Piers Anthony, Steven Brust, J. R. R. Tolkien and Robert Jordan fueled imagination. Time tested classics and the work of new authors all feed an appetite for stories.
In High School, D. X. Logan became involved in both roleplaying games and theater. Through these, he found an outlet to explore diverse character mindsets. The games in particular required fleshing out the history of characters and worlds. Understanding how a character's past affected their present actions became a valuable tool. One he added to a growing arsenal of writing tools.
In 1997, he achieved Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts. Shortly after he became an assistant Scoutmaster and merit badge instructor. Soon after, he attended Miami University, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Despite graduating with a Bachelor degree, he did not move into the teaching field. Instead, he decided to further explore the world around him. He's taken the time to learn the ins and outs of different jobs. Each one offered insights and inspiration for the development of his stories.
Fiction hasn't been his only focus. He hiked over 8000 miles. In those many trips, he spent countless nights camping and experiencing survival conditions. Almost 2200 of these miles came in the form of a continuous trip in 2006. That year he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail for six months. It's a continuous footpath spanning from Georgia to Maine. He obtained the trail name of Sir Lancelot the Brave on the trip. A great deal of perspective on life came from the hike and served as the major inspiration for a trail book. It was also here that the first spark of Meddle Not was born.
On returning from the trail, he studied the design of roleplaying games. Several remain available for free release. This led to the release of The Cursed. The playtest and the beta test version of the game have been available since 2011. He has since released a number of other games, but his focus remains on other aspects of his writing career. Among these was an ongoing RPG, titled Myriad, and a the early work for what would become The Platinum Chain.
On March 17th of 2008 he married, and has since had two children. 2013 marked the year he began active novel writing after years of smaller works. This included shifting some of his income to source away from ghost writing. In that period he wrote Nighteyes, a collection of 15 flash fiction stories. These stories form a larger serialized story. Among his other successes from that period forward was Dreams of Dragonflies. The entry placed as a finalist in the Game Chef competition for 2015.
Among other projects, two books are scheduled for release in 2025 as well as updated full release versions of several RPG projects. Another book under the working title of Meddle Not is currently in progress as well.
